Here I am, trying to figure out the difference between the Flip UltraHD and Mino HD, and here is your excellent article, complete with terrific, precise images and videos. I can't thank you enough, Beau. My mind is made up-- the Ultra it is, and nice that it's still a little cheaper. It'll be my first Flip, so I'm looking forward to it. :)

this is a really great review! but i am curious as to what it looks like on a larger tv? Most tvs are really large these days so when played on a big tv is the quality still okay? and does the Mino look better because it is widescreen?

Great comparison. I own the Ultra and L*O*V*E it. I got it when my daughter was 2 months old. She's 18 months now, and I have every milestone from the past 16 months on video. I'm shopping for one for my mother for Mother's Day, and I got hung up on the Ultra vs. Mino debate. Thank you SO much for such a thorough analysis. After reading your article, I'm getting Mom the Ultra. The FOV and white balance are better. Looking forward to hear what you think about the UltraHD!

I just bought one Flip MinoHD Camcorder . I like it really very much. I am carrying always even to work to record meeting notes. It is real killer.

I just got the Flip Ultra HD today. I picked it without really paying much attention to the Mino version... I noticed that the Ultra shoots 4:3 so does that mean the Flip Ultra HD shoots 16:9?
